Not the best of times

Not since I hurt my knee in February would I say that things have been really favorable for me physically. It was over three months before I got released from therapy for that injury. I did and still am receiving kindnesses to help me out. My strength and physical well being have not totally returned. (I am going up and down stairs in the temple - not totally gracefully - to be able to perform various roles in helping with endowments.) At the end of May I caught a cold eventually resulting in bronchitis and both of my ears being plugged. I think I only heard about 10 to 15 % of what was said in church today. After dragging the cold along for over two weeks, I went to the clinic last Monday and was given an antibiotic which I am to take for ten days. It was supposed to fix the bronchitis and the ear infection. After six days both ailments are still with me. As a result of the way things have happened since February, my quality of life has not been up to par from then until now. I haven't been as strong or as mobile since then. Thankfully, Diane, Dan and Chris have kept my lawn mowed. Phillip has been out and covered rain gutters and sprayed broad leaf plants in my lawn
Although not totally well, we went to Bear Lake at the end of May and stayed in a time share for six days. Dan and Deanna Allred came and spent four of those days with us. We did some visiting of things near by and had good association. I still ride my bike and do some things on my feet quite a lot, trying to get my old vigor and strength back. I know this: it is a rather slow journey.
We are planning to go to Washington to see my brother, Paul, as he recovers from his accident on the Fourth of July weekend. Later that week we are flying to Rochester, New York where we will stay with Amy (my daughter) and Tom Russell in Canandaigua. While there we plan on attending the Hill Cumorah Pageant. At the end of July we will attend the Friday portion of the Hansen reunion in Oak City, Utah. The first week in September we will be cruising in Alaska.
Our spring has been cold, wet and windy. I helped get some of the moisture back that we missed last winter.
We plan for Evelyn's arrival here on the 23rd of June. gwh

Bear Lake Timeshare

A week ago Saturday we drove to Bear Lake after our temple shift was over. We stayed in a timeshare until Friday, then we came home to do our temple shift yesterday, Saturday. On Monday, Deanna and Dan Allred joined us and stayed until Friday also. We ate, visited, laughed, watched old videos and shot slingshots. I had a mean cough which hampered my style quite a lot. (I am somewhat improved, but I am still struggling.) Monday before Allreds arrived, Clarine and I drove to the Oxford cemetery and put some mums on various graves. We saw Dee and Nellie Boyce at the cemetery. The movies we saw were a couple of Doris Day oldies and the "Blind Side" which I liked quite a lot. I apparently over did the eating thing as I gained three pounds. Since I have finished my knee therapy, I am getting around without support, but not very fast. At the lake we are seeing many new goslings and ducklings. Diane arrived here for her summer vacation on Friday evening. She has lots of advice for her father, nevertheless it is good to have her here for the summer. Evelyn is going to arrive on 23 June. While we were at the temple yesterday, Phillip came and installed some leaf guards in the rain gutters above the garage. Diane says she is going to mow the lawn tomorrow while we are in the temple. I am happy for the help. gwh
